The Mary Kay Foundation awards $20,000 to CASA!

On October 7, 2011, CASA received a check for $20,000 from the Mary Kay Foundation to purchase a new van.  The $20,000 grant is part of Mary Kay's annual $3 million national domestic violence grant program.  CASA was one of 150 domestic violence organizations chosen to receive grant money.

The grant comes as a blessing to CASA as the old van was in need of major repairs.  When CASA staff learned that CASA would receive the money, they all did the "dance of joy"!  Dealing with the old van became so problematic as it often was inoperable.  In a time when money is short and the list of people that need help is long, the Mary Kay Foundation met a great need.  This was not the first time that the organization "came to the rescue."  The Mary Kay Foundation has previously helped CASA with playground equipment for the shelter in 2008.

"In light of the economic downturn and alarming increases in domestic violence, The Mary Kay Foundation's mission is more critical than ever before.  The Citrus County Abuse Shelter Association, Inc. (CASA) has helped so many women and their families in Citrus County. We know they will use the funds to benefit even more domestic violence survivors and their children and help end domestic violence."
